Learn How To Draw with Stephen Fishwick

Art Classes

So many people asked if Stephen teaches art classes over the summer – I was compelled to put this notice on the blog. Stephen has been teaching for over 15 years and has a special Faces of the Wild drawing class starting September 18. The class will be taught at his private studio and will last 4 weeks on Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. All ages are welcome (8 and above).

Backstage at Splash!

Paints

This is the table where the paints used on stage are refilled and lined up in proper order depending on which painting is being performed. The crew has a detailed diagram of the paint set up for each animal painting. Once the paints are refilled and placed into the paint tray according to the diagram, one tray is set out on the stage and the other is placed next to the back entrance of the stage where it will be set up on stage after the first painting is performed.

Here is the audio system we play the music for the show on..there are two CDs per show that the crew plays during each show. The first CD has the intro and the music for the first painting. The second CD has the music for the second painting and what we call the “outro music.” The outro music is what is played while the Splash! “victim” is being turned into a work of art.

Where It All Began

Audition

This is a photo from our Splash! Faces of the Wild “audition” for the San Diego Zoo we did last October. We did a show at noon on a Friday featuring the Gorilla and the Tiger. The rest is history! We have just completed 74 days straight of Splash! Faces of the Wild. What fun we had. Thanks to the San Diego Zoo, Entertainment Solutions, Frazee, our friends on the Front Plaza Zookeeper Willie, Serenata and of course, our Splash! fans! Here are some fun facts:

Number of shows: 370 (including pass member night)

Number of paintings: 740

Number of people splashed during show: 400

Stay in touch!

Young Filmmaker

Young filmmaker

This young lady and her Mom saw Splash! in July and were inspired to make the trek back from El Segundo to film the show. Rebecca Knight is a young filmmaker, actress and now, of course, a big Splash! fan. She taped the shows back to back and plans to make a video. In case you think Rebecca looks familiar, you may have seen her in a “got milk” commercial recently. As fellow filmmakers – we  certainly wish Rebecca the best of luck in her endeavors. She is shown here with her Mom and #1 fan Sharri.
